Subaru WRX/WRX STI Service Intervals & Mileage

The Subaru WRX service intervals generally switch off every 6,000 miles or six months of driving time. Services are split up into several different classes: A, B, C, and D, all of which involve different routine inspections and replacements. The Subaru WRX maintenance schedule consists of overall twenty service intervals, but we break this down into four important sections: 

After 6,000 miles or 6 months:
- Service A

• Replace engine oil and filter

• Inspect tire condition and adjust tire pressure

• Service battery

• Road test

• Inspect and adjust fluid levels

• Inspect all lights, wipers, and washers

• Inspect steering and suspension components

 
After 12,000 miles or 12 months:
- Service B

• All Service A inspections, as well as:

• Wheel alignment

• Remove, inspect, and service front and rear brakes

• Test coolant, inspect hoses, and clamps

• Inspect engine and cabin air filters

 
After 36,000 miles or 36 months:
- Service C

• All Service A and B inspections, as well as:

• Full battery service and test

• Remove, inspect, and service parking brake

• Service fuel injectors

• Inspect all emissions-related hoses

• Inspect and replace PCV valve 

• Replace brake fluid

 
After 60,000 miles or 60 months:
- Service D

• All Service A, B, and C inspections, as well as:

• Replace spark plugs

• Replace transmission and differential fluids

Subaru Outback/Forester Service Schedule Intervals

The Subaru Outback maintenance schedule is based on mileage, and groups together the required service tasks in the following way:
 
6,000-Mile Interval Service:
 

• Check and adjust clutch hydraulic fluid for manual models

• Check and adjust coolant level

• Check suspension and steering components

• Check and adjust power steering fluid

• Replace genuine Subaru oil filter and oil

• Replace oil drain plug gasket

• Service battery terminals

• Examine hoses and belts

• Inspect tires for uneven wear and damage

• Check and adjust tire pressures

• Rotate and balance tires

• Check function of exterior lights

• Inspect wiper/washer systems and fluid

12,000-Mile Interval Service:
 

• At the 12,000-mile service appointment, you’ll find many of the 6,000-mile services repeated, with a few additions, such as having the HVAC system’s air filter switched out and the brakes checked.

• Inspect tires for uneven wear and damage

• Check and adjust tire pressures

• Alignment Check (required for Passport Program)

• Rotate and balance tires

• Replace fuel filter (only at 72,000 and 144,000)

• Replace genuine Subaru oil filter and oil

• Replace oil drain plug gasket

• Service battery terminals

• Examine hoses and belts

• Check and adjust clutch hydraulic fluid for manual models

• Check and adjust coolant level

• Inspect suspension and steering components

• Check and adjust power steering fluid

• Check function of exterior lights

• Inspect wiper/washer systems and fluid

24,000-Mile Interval Service:
 

• Service battery terminals

• Replace genuine Subaru oil filter and oil

• Replace oil drain plug gasket

• Check and adjust clutch hydraulic fluid for manual models

• Check and adjust coolant level

• Examine hoses and belts

• Inspect suspension and steering components

• Check and adjust power steering fluid

• Check and adjust tire pressures

• Inspect tires for uneven wear and damage

• Rotate and balance tires

• Inspect wiper/washer systems and fluid

30,000-Mile Interval Service:

The 30,000-mile service interval takes place at either the aforementioned mileage marker or when 30 months have passed. During this visit, a few additional services will take place, such as replacing the brake fluid and the air filter and the clutch and transmission fluid being replaced for manual models. Otherwise, the following services will take place as part of this Subaru Outback maintenance schedule visit.

• Replace Genuine synthetic oil

• Replace spark plugs (only at 60,000 and 120,000)

• Replace oil drain plug gasket

• Check and adjust clutch hydraulic fluid (manuals only)

• Check and adjust front and rear differential fluid

• Check and adjust power steering fluid

• Check operation of exterior lights

• Flush the brake system and replace fluid

• Service battery terminals

• Examine hoses and belts

• Inspect driveshafts, differentials, and boots

• Inspect suspension and steering components

• Rotate and balance tires

• Check and adjust tire pressures

• Inspect tires for uneven wear and damage

• Inspect wiper/washer systems and fluid

Subaru Crosstrek/Impreza
Service Intervals & Mileage

The Subaru Crosstrek service intervals are based on the miles driven or the length of time you’ve driven your car around, whichever comes first. Don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns. 

Every 6 Months or 6,000 Miles
Crosstrek Oil Change:
 

• Replace the Engine Oil Filter

• Rotate Tires and Tire Inspection 

• Check All Fluid Levels

 
Every 12 Months or 12,000 Miles:

• Change the Cabin Air Filter

• Inspect Brake Lines

• Check the Operation of the Parking and Service Brake System

• Inspect Steering and Suspension

• Inspect Clutch 

• Inspect Disc Brake Pads and Rotors, Front and Rear Axle Boots, and Axle Shaft Joint Portions

 
Every 30 Months or 30,000 Miles:

• Everything from the 6,000-mile Subaru Crosstrek service schedule

• Replace Transmission Gear Oil 

• Inspect Engine Coolant Systems, Hoses, and Connections

• Inspect Fuel Systems, Connections, and Lines 

• Inspect Frontier and Rear Differential Gear Coil 

• Replace Air Cleaner Element

• Change Brake Fluid / Clutch Fluid (Manual Only)

• Inspect Drive belt(s) [Except camshaft]

 
At this point, some systems may need extra repairs or maintenance that may require your attention. You may need to replace the tires, the battery, or the brakes soon. As your Subaru ages, we’ll suggest repairs or replacements before they become a real problem. Approaching 60,000 to 100,000 miles, we’ll also replace the radiator coolant and the transmission fluid, as well as the spark plugs.

Subaru Legacy Service Schedule Intervals

The Subaru Legacy maintenance schedule is similar to that of other Subaru vehicles like the Forester or Crosstrek. Your first Subaru Legacy oil change interval occurs at 6,000 miles or six months, whichever comes first.
